MSP Testing

Riley has been taking his MSP (Measurements of Student Progress) yesterday and today.  He took his Reading test yesterday and today is Math.  He prefers Math so he is looking forward to doing this test.  He told us last night that he was one of the last to finish in his class.  We told him that only serious students who would like to do well take their time.  That the test isn’t a race.  He seemed like he was relieved to hear our opinion.
Last night I had to go to the store to get his class some melon and apple slices for him to take to class.  We signed up to help out with the snacks they have between tests.  Here they are treated like they are long distance runners or something.  When I took the tests in the long ago past, there wasn’t a flyer that went home with instructions about sleeping, eating well, being relaxed, or having no homework for the week.  Now days, this is how the kids are treated which I like.  Of course, teachers are now “graded” too by these tests and for that reason the tests may have been noticed more than in the past.  It is very important for Riley to take these tests seriously… and he is.
Have a wonderful day!

  1. You hit on the reason why the instructions... the teachers and schools want their ratings to be good! :) I know a lot of kids who always rush thru tests to try and be first to finish... that doesn't mean they score well!

After the pink slime report, Costco and other markets said they would stop purchasing it so maybe the bad publicity will help get rid of all these additives! (((Hugz)))
